Trinity Aquifer Spring Survey for Northern Bexar County, Texas
The Trinity Glen Rose Groundwater Conservation District, Edwards Aquifer Authority, and San Antonio River Authority have partnered with USGS to conduct a survey of springs issuing from the Trinity Aquifer in the vicinity of Northern Bexar County, Texas. The purpose of the study is to review available data on the location of Trinity aquifer springs in northern Bexar County and develop a geodatabase of the springs. The study will also involve a field reconnaissance of springs to collect discharge and physiochemical properties from selected springs. The USGS will then publish a report that includes a GIS database, documenting location and characteristics of the springs. The area to be surveyed includes the boundaries that coincide with the county line and the outcrops of the Edwards aquifer. This study will further our understanding of the TGRGCD portion of the Trinity aquifer and is based on voluntary participation by local landowners to identify springs. The information collected will be used to create a final published report and to help create best management practices for the District.
